Description
"Hammer to Fall" is a 1984 song by the British rock band Queen. Written by guitarist Brian May, the song is the eighth track on their 1984 album The Works. It was the fourth and final single to be released from that album. Different sleeves were used to package this single and the live picture sleeve is now a collector's item. The song harks back to the Queen of old, with a song being built around a hard angular and muscular riff.
My copy is a rare genuine 12" vinyl single purchased in Woolworths Edinburgh in 1984 prior to the "Live" picture sleeve being withdrawn. Rear seams are square at top and angled at bottom (beware of forgeries!) - please see photos. The record has only been played a handful of times since the 84 purchase as I traded in my old Sansui turntable for a shiny new Pioneer CD player in 1986/87 and retired my entire vinyl collection. I recently purchased a new turntable and brought down my old vinyl collection from the loft which was stored in LP cases. I played the record today (both sides) and it sounds fantastic (no clicks or pops) as new. Reluctantly selling this to fund the recent turntable purchase (sob!)
The sleeve has some ring wear but overall the package is in VG condition and it would make a great addition to any Queen fan's vinyl collection.
