Innuendo A1/B2

This very first UK pressing has the very rare A1 matrix on S1 which is rarely found today.  Generally you find this LP with the more common A2/B2 matrix.  In the main it plays very well but with some crackle here and there but the cover and lyric inner are among the best I have ever seen.

Visual grading

This vinyl has obviously been enjoyed as there is some obvious spindle wear and whilst there are a number of hairlines and a handful of 'wave' marks there are no scratches.  There are also 5/6 hairlines that are a little more obvious.  However, as detailed below there are no clicks or pops just some crackle here and there.

Play grading

'Innuendo' has some light crackle on the intro and then plays with impressive power and clarity.  You can certainly play it loud without fear of distortion.  There is also some crackle during the quiet 'Spanish guitar' section but once the volume increases this is drowned out by the music.  The remainder plays extremely well but with a little crackle on the fade out.  'I'm Going Slightly Mad' again has some light crackle on the intro and then plays very well with only the odd static sound.  'Headlong' plays with great power and depth and such a strong bass sound also.  There is only minimal static on the intro and on the one very brief quieter section, nothing intrusive though.  The two final tracks 'I Can't Live With You' and 'Ride The Wild Wind' play with superb quality but with some crackle on the intros and fade outs again.  The audio 'in between' though is strong and near faultless with perfect clarity.

The audio on S2 is similar to that on S1 with some light crackle here and there.  The intro and fade out on 'All God's People' is an example of this although the remainder of this opening track plays with superb sound, no distortion and a real dynamic quality.  The classic 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives' plays very clearly with only a little static in the background.  A lovely version overall.  The remaining tracks play to a similar standard.  Some ubiquitous static/crackle on the intros and fade outs but there are no loud clicks or pops.  'The Hitman' as you would expect plays loud and true with no distortion and the only interference is a little crackle on the fade out.  'Bijou' is more affected by the crackle as it is such a quiet track and is a little more intrusive.  'The Show Must Go On' for the vast majority plays very cleanly with tremendous power and barely any distortion but yes some crackle on the beginning and end.

The Cover

The cover is in superb condition and I have not seen one as clean as this for a long time.  These 'white' covers are so often marked so it is quite rare to find one like this today.  The edges and spine are in perfect condition and there is no corner wear either.  The opening edge is very clean aside from a couple of very small rubs.  The front and back cover are supremely clean with no marking or creasing at all.  Overall a fantastic example of this 'first press' cover.

The Lyric inner

This is in wonderful condition with the bare minimum of creasing near the thumb notch area.

The labels

There is no marking/writing just a fair amount of spindle wear.
