WOW!!! Incredible pack by the very first time in ebay!!! We have got for you the very first press of the debut album by “QUEEN” and the first single released in Chile!!!  You know, this pack is A MUST for Queen fans and collectors, 2 of the rarest records of Queen from this side of the world. So, let’s see details about what this pack includes:

“QUEEN” (First Album)

MEGARARE and hard-to-find original EMI Records very first Stereo press released in Chile in 1974 by Odeon Records (an EMI company of Chile), catalog number (S)LDC-36855  and Matrix numbers YAX 4623 in Side 1 and YAX 4624 in Side 2!!! In both sides in the deadwax is also written SIVIRACOL, what or who’s SIVIRACOL, I don’t know, maybe the nick of the stamper, but something we know, if you are a fan of Queen you know this original very first press released in Chile is a real rarity!!! Yes, WHAT A FIND!!! See the pictures and remember that you could own this rarity!!!

The debut album by QUEEN was released in 1973 but we had to wait until 1974 to see this record released here in Chile. However, like in many cases of those times, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER. Yes, in Chile the album keeps the same artwork but here the cover was made of 2 single sheets as front and back cover kept together for an outer plastic bag which’s was part of the cover. In this case, the original plastic cover is missed, some past owner pasted the single sheets in cardboard to create a gatefold-like cover and that person did a very good work! In both labels and back cover, the tracklist is written in English, translated to Spanish.

The cover is in great EX or EX+ condition, clean and complete, only with minimal wear in the mouth edge and a crease at the bottom right corner. In the picture the front cover looks blue but the real colour is purple. The record is in superb VG+ or EX- condition, glossy and clean but with many very light hairlines and scuffs which don’t affect the sound quality!!! Labels on both sides are in NM or NM+ condition, absolutely clean and clear. The sound is in strong EX+ or NM- condition the Side 1 and in EX or EX+ condition the Side 2, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some very light crackles and soft pops here and there which don’t cause distraction at all. Overall a fabulous record with a very nice look and amazing sound quality even after 37 years!!!

“MANTENTE VIVO” (Keep Yourself Alive)

Well, if you really like Queen and you collect Queen records you already know what this single means. Yes!!! This single, released in Chile in 1974 is one of the rarest singles of Queen worldwide, it’s in all catalogs and lists as one of the Top 50 rarities of Queen!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

“MANTENTE VIVO” was released only in Stereo in Chile by Odeon Records, with white labels and red and black letters, with catalog number SMSOD-8927, Matrix numbers EMI-2036.A 1 AAR in Side 1 and EMI-2036B in Side 2. AAR seem to be the initials of the stamper and the Matrix being “EMI” would prove this is a PROMO copy of “Keep Yourself Alive”. In Side 2 is the song “HIJO E HIJA” (Son And Daughter) This single comes in a generic sleeve.

As you can see in the pics, labels are in great condition but they have some names written in both sides, so I will grade as VG only. The sound quality is in VG condition the Side 1, with constant crackles in the first 30 seconds of “Keep yourself alive”, which plays great after that. In Side 2 the record plays in VG+ or EX- condition, but at the end of the song when the needle should stop, the needle never ends to run. I don’t know if it’s a repetition or if they did it intentionally, but anyway the song plays great from the beginning to the end. Overall, a so rare record like this is always interesting no matter the real condition and in this case the sound quality is very good and respectable, not for “minty” lovers but a great addition for a QUEEN collection. It sounds loud and clear, with no skips or repetitions, and it’s a TOP 50 rarity of Queen!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

We have an unique value worldwide: 

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP7 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.
