Another gem from my collection of classic 70's albums goes under the hammer. This album I struggled to find at the time, it had a bit of a cult following but didn't sell too well hence the lack of items on the market. I was lucky enough to get my hands on this version from Germany however.

Quatermass features John Gustafson (The Big Three, Merseybeats) on Bass, Mike Underwood (Episode 6, Gillan) on Drums and Peter Robinson (Brand X, Phil Collins) on keys.

Quatermass strove for a distinguished organ tinged sound, reminiscent of The Nice, with swinging rock coupled with striking ballads. This album has quite a jazzy feel to it and includes some fantastic tracks, including the singles Black Sheep of the Family and Gemini as well as the excellent Make up your Mind.

The LP is in very good condition visually. The vinyl looks like new, though has obviously been played, with no scratches of other marks visible to the naked eye. The labels are in pristine condition and the gatefold sleeve (designed by the then ubiquitous Hipgnosis) shows only a little wear at the edges.

Soundwise, the music and vocals is clear and concise but the album is typical of many in the day with a fair amount of crackle on the intro and outro, plus some between tracks and quieter parts of some songs. This is particularly frustrating as the album has only been played 2 or 3 times!!!!
