Description

Very cool private press LP Al Smith "Up All Night" LP on an NRP acetate!  Songs range from the fuzzed psych electric guitar on the title track to the Mellow Yellow-like "Don't Get Me Wrong" track.  "Sometimes a Song" sounds like a lost Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young tune from the Deja Vu time period!  A few songs have that Neil Young sound, like the opening track on side one and side 2.  Some truly excellent acoustic and electric guitar tracks with vocals!   Several sound effects are mixed into the tracks. This is probably the best private press LP I've found, and this may be the only copy in existence!  The cover was spray painted by hand, and the artist wrote everything by hand on the back cover!  It is not clear if he is the only musician playing all instruments and vocals, or if this is a group. The cover is VG++ with only light wear on the back cover and a smear on the ink listing the second song on side 2.  The vinyl is near perfect with no signs of wear or play! Plays super clean like a audiophile pressing with full fidelity and super clean sound. The record sounds like it was recorded in the mid 70s, but has a very late 60s to early 70s sound, and is definitely one of kind!!!!! If you would like to hear an mp3 sample of a few tracks, please ask and I'll gladly send some.  DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!!!!

Here are the actual notes written on the back cover:

This album is entirely my fault.  I did everything from writing the songs to spray painting the album jacket.  It has taken me a year to do just this much and if I thought it would do any good I'd spend a few more weeks (months maybe) working on it some more.  Well, don't say I didn't warn you.

Side 1

 1. It Still Rains On Wednesday.  A "Moody Who" song.  The thunder is real.  Everything else is fake.

2. White Boy Blues.  A joke on me, but also the truth behind all those dumb things that don't really matter but they bum you out anyway.  Cheer up - it could be worse.

3. My Back Yard.  The product of a demented mind and a half quart of Canadian Club.  Nothing heavy here, just fun.

Side 2

1. Out West Again.  I'd like to do a medley of my hit...

2. Sometimes A Song.  It explains why I did this album.

3. Don't Get Me Wrong.  Could it be our hero has made a mistake?  Or is the young lady playing hard to get?

4. Up All Night*. The instrumental tracks to a song I've forgotten the words to.

* Did you hear the dog bark?

(Note: Al Smith's name is written in blue ink to the left bottom of cover).
