“Prismatic” by Prismatic (Omni Network Records, 2323)

Excellent private spiritual jazz vocal LP, with some world/African elements. Recorded in Ann Arbor, 1979 with a full complement of talented instrumenalists on soprano sax, kalimba, clavinet, surdo, jawharp, and really energetic male/female vocal parts. “XLR” is a wonderful conga & horn free jazz piece, slow & underpinned by lovely bass, lots of interesting time changes and brilliant sax parts. “Huna” has a great, loping funky groove and lots of belltree & rainstick action. “Prisma” is the masterpiece and reminds me of my favorite later Pharoah Sanders material, but with a heavy dose of fuzz guitar… spiritual & gorgeous, ending in an astounding conga jam.

Should appeal to fans of Black Jazz, Strata East, The Dance of the Universe Orchestra, Milt Ward, Jothan Callins, Sons & Daughters Of Lite, those brilliant Jazz Bizniz comps Russ Dewbury puts out, the kind of stuff Gilles Peterson digs up, and the like.

Condition: Cover = EX (only the slightest hint of wear and one wrinkled corner)/ Record = EX (a few spindle marks, clean & shiny, a few sleeve scuffs, plays perfectly)

PACKAGING/SHIPPING/POSTAGE: As I’m VERY careful about keeping LPs in their described condition, I ship all LPs in custom LP mailers and use filler pads. I pack the disc with the inner-sleeve placed behind cover (both in a plastic slipcover) to prevent seam splitting in transit.

Postage for 1-2 LPs within USA: Media Mail = $4.00 or Priority Postage = $7.50, each additional LP add $2.00 (per LP).

Insurance is optional, but any uninsured package is the Buyer’s responsibility (At Your Own Risk) and I cannot refund lost or damaged packages. Insurance rates are as Follows: 0-$50.00 = $1.30; $50.01 - $100.00 = $2.20; $100.01 - $200.00 = $3.20; $200.01 and Higher = $4.20.
