Prince ~ Self-Titled 1979 Album ~ Dedicated to an employee on the front by the WB label
We believe this to be a RARE ACETATE but there is a small chance of being a test pressing. It has many properties that an acetate does including no catalog numbers, no matrix numbers etched in the runout, and a type-written label. There is no drive hole, but that would be unnecessary if WB was using a lathe with a vacuum turntable. It is also a heavier vinyl which according to my research is uncommon but not unheard of. We are 85% sure this is an acetate and if it is not it is certainly a test pressing.
Potentially AUTOGRAPHED on the front - The autograph has not been authenticated but it was not uncommon for artists to be present at the time of press and is done in a different pen than the dedication on the front meaning it wasn't written at the same time. It doesn't look like other autographs from later eras but with how experimental Prince is it would not be surprising if his signature has changed a few times, especially this early in his career. It also features symbols taking the place of letters, which he frequently does, and what looks to be an early version of his symbol beneath the name.
Record is VG+ with some light markings that should not affect audio quality and there may be some light surface noise in a few places that should not overpower the sound - especially with the think vinyl; Label is VG+ with some light wear around the spindle hole, a pen mark on side one likely put there by the label designating it as the first single, and a small "x" under "TWO" on the B side; Sleeve is VG with a dedication written on the front to a label employee, a small name written in pen under the upper front left corner, a piece of tape on the back at the center of the mouth, some light creasing on the front and back originating from the seams, small dings on the corners, and some wear on the seams with NO SPLITS (see pictures)
