Description

Portishead - Portishead

1997 / Go! Beat / London Records

314-539 189-1 / 731453918915

12" 2xLP Vinyl, First Pressing

Condition Note:

Media is graded Good Plus (G+) due to a feelable nick on Side 1 (circled in red in photos) that causes audible noise/pops on that track. The other three sides are strong VG+ to EX. Note the reflections in the photos; the vinyl retains its deep original factory gloss.

Matrix/Runout:

Side A: 314-539-189-1-A (U) HUBTV F/W RCE

Side B: 314-539-189-1-B (U) *

Side C: 314-539-189-1C-R3 SET II RJ STERLING G

Side D: 314-539-189-1-D SET II

First US Pressing; Side C features unique RJ STERLING mastering by Ray Janos; Sides A, B, and D mastered at Frankford/Wayne.

The self-titled second studio album by British trip-hop group Portishead was released in September 1997. Moving away from the jazz-inflected samples of their debut Dummy, the group opted for a darker, more cinematic atmosphere, recording their own live instrumentation before sampling and manipulating the results to create their signature gritty, noir-inspired sound.

Condition Details:

• The Media: G+ — See note above regarding Side A.

• The Jacket/Case: VG+ — Clean copy with light shelf wear consistent with age.

The records have been moved to premium Hudson Hi-Fi anti-static poly-lined sleeves. This ensures archival protection and prevents the "paper rashing" or static common with factory sleeves.
