Description
This record is truly a part of musical history. It is an original FIRST PRESSING of the Beatles' first Number One record, Please Please Me, released in Great Britain by Parlophone on January 11, 1963. The B-Side is Ask Me Why. The record number is Parlophone 45-R4983. This record was the Beatles' first huge hit and started a wave of Beatlemania in Great Britain that would soon spread to the rest of the world. The record we have here is in excellent condition. Almost no wear from play can be seen; it in fact looks almost brand-new. According to the excellent reference book, Mitch Scharoff's The Beatles: Collecting the Original UK Pressings, the red label Please Please Me singles, like this one, were available only a short time before Parlophone changed all their singles to black labels. Both a red label Please Please Me and a red label Love Me Do were reissued in the 1980s but they had the word MONO printed on the labels, whereas the originals did not. This item that saw the world about to change is one small part of a Beatles collection I built over a number of years. If you want to own a piece of Beatles history at a reasonable price, this is your chance. I apologize for the terrible pictures. If you want to see better photos, close-up scans, e mail me and I will send jpeg files as attachments. E mail me with any questions. Thanks for looking.
