“Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. Distinguished by their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, extended compositions and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in the history of popular music.

“Pink Floyd were founded in 1965 by students Syd Barrett on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Mason on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. They gained popularity performing in London's underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett's leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Guitarist David Gilmour joined in December 1967; Barrett left in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the band's primary lyricist and eventually their dominant songwriter, devising the concepts behind their albums The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), The Wall (1979) and The Final Cut (1983). The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall became two of the best-selling albums of all time.

“The Wall is the eleventh studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released as a double album on 30 November 1979 by Harvest Records in the United Kingdom and by Columbia Records in the United States. It is the last studio album released with the line-up of guitarist David Gilmour, bass guitarist and lyricist Roger Waters, keyboardist Richard Wright, and drummer Nick Mason. The album features the band's only single to top various charts, "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2", followed with "Run Like Hell" and "Comfortably Numb". In 1982, the album was adapted into a feature film, Pink Floyd – The Wall.

“As with Pink Floyd's previous three albums, The Wall is a concept album, exploring themes of abandonment and personal isolation. The story follows Pink, a character whom Waters modeled after himself and the band's original leader, Syd Barrett. Pink's life begins with the loss of his father during the Second World War and continues with abuse from his schoolteachers, an overprotective mother, and the breakdown of his marriage; all contribute to his eventual self-imposed isolation from society, represented by a metaphorical wall.

“Waters conceived The Wall during Pink Floyd's 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when his frustration with the audience became so acute that he spat on the audience. After presenting the rest of the band with ideas for two rock operas — the other about a man's road trip through California — they voted in favour of The Wall. Recording lasted from December 1978 to November 1979 while the band struggled with various personal and financial difficulties. Wright was unceremoniously fired from the band by Waters during its production but remained as a salaried musician, performing with Pink Floyd during the subsequent tour. The performances, which were later released as a live album, featured elaborate theatrical effects. Some of the album's themes would be continued in the band's next album, The Final Cut (1983), which contained some outtakes from The Wall.

“The album was one of the best selling of 1980 and by 1999 it had sold over 23 million RIAA-certified units (11.5 million albums) making it the third highest certified album in the United States. Rolling Stone placed The Wall at number 87 on its list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

This record comes from an estate and I have no first-hand knowledge of the history of purchase or care or maintenance of this record. I am not a collector and I do not have the knowledge or training to assign a grade to this record.  The estate’s records that I sell are not rated based on sound, but only on visual qualities.  I have not played this record so the quality of the recording is not guaranteed.  However, for whatever it is worth, I knew the previous owner for 45 years and all throughout that time, the previous owner was quite meticulous in the care and maintenance of all of his possessions, particularly his music collection.  Please ask questions or express concerns before placing a bid or buying this item.

Regarding the records, the vinyl and the labels visually appear to be in very good condition. The album cover is in like-new condition.

I have described this record to the best of my ability.  Other than wiping this record with a soft dust-free cloth, I have not attempted to clean or otherwise maintain this record prior to sale.
