Description
If you’re into Floyd’s early psych era, this is a great one to have on the shelf or the turntable. “Piper” is the band’s 1967 debut and the only album to feature Syd Barrett as the primary songwriter and bandleader before he left the group. It’s a very different sound than the Pink Floyd most people know from “Dark Side of the Moon” and beyond: playful, strange, and steeped in London’s psychedelic scene. Tracks like “Astronomy Domine” and “Interstellar Overdrive” set the template for the band’s early space rock sound, while songs like “Bike” show off Barrett’s odder, more whimsical side.
This is the recent mono pressing, mastered by Bernie Grundman, so you’re getting the tighter, more focused mix the band originally intended, closer to how it was meant to be heard.
The shrink and hype sticker are still on, though the record itself is no longer sealed. I played it 3 or 4 times, and there’s no visible wear on the jacket or the vinyl.
Please look over the photos closely and message me with any questions before bidding. Happy to answer anything I can.
