Lp a copertina apribile. 1° edizione originale, copertina nera standard lucida con le classiche mostrine militari, retro della copertina standard, copertina interna nera lucida. OBI largo nero con scritte bianche, riporta il prezzo di "¥2,500". Include all'interno un inserto di 4 pagine con i testi e un articolo di Miles intitolato "A Definitive Story and Visual Documentary of Pink Floyd", etichetta picture della CBS-SONY, presenta il logo della CBS-Sony, con sopra il numero di catalogo "25AP 2410" e sotto il codice addizionale "JASRAC", numeri sulla matrice.

I Pink Floyd sono stati una rock band britannica formatasi nella seconda metà degli anni sessanta che, nel corso di una lunga e travagliata carriera, è riuscita a riscrivere le tendenze musicali della propria epoca e a diventare uno dei gruppi più importanti della storia del rock. Sebbene agli inizi siano stati influenzati prevalentemente dal rock psichedelico e dallo space rock, il genere al quale appartengono è in prevalenza il rock progressivo. Caratterizzati da testi filosofici, esperimenti sonori, grafiche innovative e spettacolari concerti, hanno venduto oltre 210 milioni di dischi in tutto il mondo, di cui 74,5 milioni nei soli Stati Uniti d'America. I Pink Floyd hanno influenzato considerevolmente la musica successiva, dai gruppi progressive degli anni settanta, come Genesis e Yes, fino a musicisti contemporanei, come Nine Inch Nails e i Dream Theater. Il gruppo, nato a Londra nel 1965, è formato dal cantante e chitarrista Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett, dal bassista George Roger Waters, dal batterista Nicholas Berkeley "Nick" Mason e dal tastierista Richard William "Rick" Wright. Nel 1968 si aggiunge al gruppo il chitarrista David Jon "Dave" Gilmour, che sostituisce Barrett, costretto ad abbandonare da problemi psichiatrici esacerbati dall'uso di droghe pesanti. La band, dopo essersi fatta notare grazie a lavori di stampo psichedelico, raggiunge la maturità con Atom Heart Mother, e si afferma a livello mondiale con The Dark Side of the Moon ed i successivi album, tra cui Wish You Were Here e The Wall, che consegnano i quattro alla storia del rock. La formazione non subisce sostanziali cambiamenti fino al 1985, escludendo una parentesi in cui Wright figura solo come turnista. Nel 1985 Waters abbandona il gruppo; i membri rimanenti pubblicano successivamente altri due album in studio di notevole successo: A Momentary Lapse of Reason e The Division Bell. La formazione cessa la propria attività nel 1995, e si scioglie nel 2006, quando Gilmour nega ufficialmente la possibilità di una reunion.Con la morte di Wright, nel 2008, si spengono di fatto le speranze dei fan.

The Final Cut è il loro dodicesimo album in studio, pubblicato nel 1983. È l'ultimo album dei Pink Floyd con Roger Waters in formazione, il quale è autore e voce solista di tutti i dodici pezzi (David Gilmour si ritaglia un unico spazio al canto: la strofa di Not Now John). Proprio per tale motivo, nonché per l'assenza del tastierista Richard Wright, molti critici e fan dei Pink Floyd considerano in pratica questo album come un album solista di Waters. La stessa copertina di retro presenta l'album come "by Roger Waters, performed by Pink Floyd" ("di Roger Waters, eseguito dai Pink Floyd"). L'album è chiaramente ispirato al rifiuto della guerra dopo quella delle Falkland, e dichiaratamente dedicato alla figura di Eric Fletcher Waters, padre di Roger, morto ad Anzio durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Come già accennato, il controllo di Waters sul gruppo è ormai assoluto. Se questo era evidente in The Wall, lo è ancora di più in The Final Cut. Nelle intenzioni dell'autore, il disco vuole essere un "requiem per il sogno del dopoguerra", per tale motivo l'atmosfera è costantemente in bilico fra intimità e depressione, con prevalenza di ballate e momenti sinfonici. Alcuni brani del disco sono derivati dalle session di The Wall (il titolo originale del disco era infatti Spare Bricks, ovvero Mattoni Avanzati). Richard Wright, licenziato da Waters nel 1979, viene sostituito al piano e alle tastiere da Andy Bown e Michael Kamen. Il suono è molto diverso rispetto ai lavori precedenti, con lunghi passaggi (se non intere canzoni) dove la voce di Waters è accompagnata solo dal piano e dall'orchestra, e brani di carattere malinconico e intimista spesso anche di difficile esecuzione vocale (come The Fletcher Memorial Home e The Gunner's Dream), dando continuità allo stile sviluppato dal bassista con The Wall. Fanno eccezione due canzoni: The Hero's Return e Not Now John, con sonorità prettamente rock. In particolare il secondo brano ottenne un buon successo commerciale. La seconda edizione del disco uscita nel 2004 dichiarata rimasterizzata, di fatto contiene When the Tigers Broke Free, un brano originariamente inserito nel film The Wall, inoltre sono stati rielaborati i missaggi. Al disco non fece seguito alcun tour. Come dichiarato da Nick Mason nel suo libro Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd, non venne considerata l'idea di esibirsi dal vivo per promuovere l'album, vista anche la difficoltà di competere con gli show di The Wall. Tuttavia Roger Waters (autore di tutti i brani) ha sempre inserito nella scaletta dei suoi tour solisti alcune canzoni tratte dall'album (tra le più frequenti, come dimostrano live ufficiali e alcuni bootleg, Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert e Southampton Dock). In questo disco i Pink Floyd si avvalsero per primi di uno strumento di registrazione originale e innovativo: olofono, un particolare microfono ideato dal produttore italiano Umberto Maggi. Questo sistema simula il funzionamento dell'orecchio e permette all'ascoltatore di ricostruire un'immagine tridimensionale del suono.

Pink Floyd were a British rock band formed in the mid-sixties, during a long and troubled career, has managed to rewrite the musical trends of his time and become one of the most important bands in rock history. Although at the beginning were mainly influenced by the psychedelic rock and space rock, the kind to which they belong is mostly progressive rock. Characterized by philosophical texts, sonic experimentation, innovative album cover have sold over 210 million records worldwide, including 74.5 million in the United States alone. Pink Floyd influenced the later music, from progressive bands of the seventies, like Genesis and Yes, up to contemporary artists such as Nine Inch Nails and Dream Theater. The group, born in London in 1965, was formed by singer / guitarist Roger Keith "Syd" Barrett, bassist George Roger Waters, drummer Nicholas Berkeley "Nick" Mason and keyboardist Richard William "Rick" Wright. In 1968 the group added guitarist David Jon Dave Gilmour to replace Barrett, who was forced to flee from psychiatric problems exacerbated by the use of hard drugs. The band, after having made a lasting impression with a psychedelic print jobs, reaches maturity with Atom Heart Mother, and states worldwide with The Dark Side Of The Moon and the subsequent albums including Wish You Were Here and The Wall delivering four to rock history. The training does not undergo substantial changes until 1985, excluding a period in which Wright is mentioned only as a session musician. In 1985, Waters left the group, the remaining members subsequently released two more highly successful studio albums: A Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell. The formation ceases trading in 1995 and disbanded in 2006, when Gilmour officially denies the possibility of a reunion.Con death of Wright in 2008, he made off of the hopes of the fans.

The Final Cut is their twelfth studio album, released in 1983. It is the last Pink Floyd album with Roger Waters in training, which is the author and lead singer of all twelve pieces (David Gilmour you crop a single space to the song: the verse of Not Now John). Precisely for this reason and because of the absence of keyboardist Richard Wright, many critics and fans of Pink Floyd in practice consider this album as a Waters solo album. The back cover shows the same album as "by Roger Waters Performed by Pink Floyd (Roger Waters, performed by Pink Floyd). The album is clearly inspired by the rejection of war after the Falklands, and avowedly dedicated to the figure of Eric Fletcher Waters, Roger's father, who died at Anzio during World War II. As already mentioned, the control of the Waters Group is now complete. If this was evident in the Wall, it is even more to The Final Cut. In the author's intentions, the disc will be a "requiem for the dream of war, therefore the atmosphere is constantly poised between intimacy and depression, with prevalence of ballads and symphonic moments. Some tracks on the disc are derived from the sessions for The Wall (the original title of the disk was in fact Spare Bricks, Bricks or Advanced). Richard Wright, fired by Waters in 1979, was replaced on piano and keyboards Andy Bown and Michael Kamen. The sound is very different from the earlier work, with long steps (if not entire songs) Waters where the voice is accompanied only by piano and orchestra, and songs of melancholy and intimate character often difficult vocal performance (as The Fletcher Memorial Home "and" The Gunner's Dream), giving continuity to the style developed by bassist with The Wall. Exceptions are two songs: The Hero's Return, and Not Now John, with sounds purely rock. In particular, the second piece got a commercial success. The second edition of the record output in 2004 declared remastered, contains factual When the Tigers Broke Free, a song originally included in the film The Wall, have also been reworked mixes. The disc did not engage in any tour. As stated by Nick Mason in his book Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd, was not considered the idea of playing live to promote the album, considering also the difficulty of competing with the show The Wall. However, Roger Waters (author of all tracks) has always placed in the lineup of his solo tour a few songs from the album (the most frequent, as shown by officers and some live bootlegs, Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert and Southampton Dock) . In this album, Pink Floyd, made use of a tool for early registration is original and innovative: Olof, a special microphone designed by Italian producer Umberto Maggi. This system simulates the operation of the ear and allows the listener to reconstruct a three-dimensional sound.
