Originally purchased several years ago, this lovely item has been well looked after and I am selling a few items to pay for an overseas holiday.
To promote their 1994 North American and European Tours, Pink Floyd Commissioned Airship International, Ltd. and American Blimp to provide two Airships, complete with psychedelic graphics forming a montage of faces and images colliding and flowing from stem to stern of each craft.
Both Airships then traversed their respective continents, heralding the impending beginnings of what would be considered the most dazzling and successful rock music tours in the modern history of time...
Manufactured and flown exclusively in North America in promotion of Pink Floyd's 1994 "Division Bell" North American Tour.
At the time this airship was flying, it was billed as the "World's Largest Blimp". This Division Belle became known for it's daring and historic flight, East to West across North America, against the jet stream during the worst weather months of 1994 for flying aircraft of any type, especially an Airship...
After the promotional flights were over, the hull or envelope of the Airship was destroyed by an unexpected freak storm on June 27th, 1994 in North Carolina before the completion of the North American Tour. The wind-shredded hull envelope fabric was salvaged, then cut into 4" x 4" squares and sold to collectors via Goldmine, Rolling Stone and the Internet, most notably in the newsgroup alt.music.pinkfloyd
