Phil Spector - A&M - Ike & Tina Turner - Checkmates - all 4 Promo LPs !!
Up for auction is a complete set of Promo LPs issued for Phil Spector’s A&M output. There are mono and stereo promos of the River-Deep Mountain High lp by Ike & Tina Turner, as wwell as the mono and stereo promo of Love Is All I Have To Give by The Checkmates, Ltd.The stereo promos appear to be the same as the stock stereo copy - with the white promotional labels applied on the discs, and the blue “Promotional Copy Not For Sale” stickers on the back of the album jackets.
The mono promos are a different story though! You’ll notice on the disc that the mono lps carry different catalog numbers - and each disc has its own distinct number under each “side” designation - all of which are different from their stereo counterparts. Even now I don’t think all of this material has been issued in mono in the US!
All of the discs appear to be in great shape - with only a few minor scuffs - they really just need a good cleaning. All of the disc labels are snow white. You’ll be able to inspect the covers’ conditions from the photos - they’re in great shape too. The stereo Checkmates promo does have discoloration on one side on the back.
