Peter Dawson +studio error Ex condition frm 1914 (RARE)

Well, I assume everyone looking at this auction knows who Peter Dawson  (A great Australian singer from pre world war 1 to post world war 2).  Here I have a few of his records spanning from the earliest of his flat disk recordings made on a Zonophone Record ~March 1914 to some of his later releases 1930-1943.  All are in good if not excellent condition even though they range in vintage from 96 years old! See the photos, hear the recordings and make your own judgement.

The 1914 Zonophone record here is definitely the interesting one, not only do you get to hear Mr Peter Dawson sing a duet with Ernest Pike but you get to hear the sound engineer (if that's what you called them back then) telling him to move "Forward, a little bit more, a little more" toward the horn of the recorder before they actually start!!!  Rarely do you get the chance to hear and feel what it was like in the recording studio during the acoustical era.  This is a definite collectors piece and one for the history book.  Normally this never happens or is edited out, however, it clearly made it onto the final acoustical release.  The record itself is in excellent condition showing minimal wear and some light scratches.  What you can hear is a lightly denoised version (with the instruction exerpt amplified at the start).  Very limited bandwidth given it's age (< 3.5kHz).

The other records range in v.good to excellent condition.  One of them has the lowest surface noise I have ever heard on a 78rpm record and certainly sets a benchmark.  Postage of all 7 records will cost $9.90 as collectively they weigh in at 1.4kg before I add packing.

(Serial 1358, AK17801) - recorded April 1914 (acoustic).  V.Good to excellent condition.

(Cat No G24077) - recorded ~ 1940.   TOP condition, ultra low noise.

• Swinging Along The Road To Victory

(Cat No G24524) - recorded ~ 1941-43.   excellent condition, minimal surface marks but higher noise floor.

• Forever and a Day
• England in the Morning
