Description: Sealed, Rare 1987 Original. Made Up In Texas Is A Compilation Album, Featuring Four Texas Bands And Two Out-Of-State Poets: Allen Ginsberg And Anne Waldman. Recorded In Dallas From 1985-86, The LP Is Essentially A Private Press Outburst From A Completely Unknown Company. The Sound Is A Blend Of Yokel Punk, Mexican Love Ballads, One Goth Track, Some Church Of Bob Screaming, And Poetry. Listeners At The Time Likely Found It An Entertaining But Completely Incongruous Selection.

This album features a version of Allen's delightful bitter-sweet Airplane Blues. This one, with Bugs Henderson and Friends, recorded in Dallas, Texas in the Fall of 1985, is one of two cuts by Allen featured on this extraordinary (and extraordinarily hard-to-find!) compilation album, Made Up In Texas, the very first release on Michael Minzer's remarkable and visionary Paris Records.

The second Ginsberg track on "Made Up in Texas", a collaboration with the Garland Symphony Orchestra, a setting of Blake, arranged by Steven Taylor, what one critic has described as "one of the more memorable and distinctive tracks of music (Allen) Ginsberg would ever record"

This rare album is selling for upwards of $200 on other sites!

This LP is Sealed & rated as Mint!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am selling a huge collection (2000+) of Rap, Hip-Hop and Dance records with very low starting bids and no reserve! I was given these albums in a trade by a professional DJ who took great care of his vinyl.  Most of these records are in pristine condition, perfect for the working professional DJ! I will list these albums as fast as possible, but if you have a request, please drop me a line & I will list your artist ASAP. I am selling these albums in lots, as singles, and as double copy sets (I have about 400 duplicate sets (800 records) Great for DJ’s!!). The majority of the records in this collection are Promotional 12 inch singles, but I also have albums, soundtracks & compilations. I am un-familiar with many of the artists & will probably list rare and valuable LP’s at a low starting price without knowing their true value! My ignorance is your gain!!  Please check my other auctions and bookmark me as a favorite seller, you will be amazed at what I have and the low, low price!

These records are mostly 5 to 15 years old and still have great surface luster and appear to have been played very rarely. The scratches on these records are very light (VG & above), all records with deep scratches will be rated poor & maybe sold in lots (most will be trashed)! Most of these records are Promotional, some are not. Some of these albums are missing the paper sleeves; some have marking or small stickers on the album label. Some of the albums are in cardboard sleeves that have Logos or Advertising Stickers that DO NOT match the album!! Some of the covers have ID stickers for the DJ.

I am not in the business of selling records, nor do I have any experience in grading them, but I have adapted the following Ebay grading guide (I have added the grade of VG-) and graded these albums and their covers conservatively. For example, there are several albums in this collection that could be rated “Mint”, instead of “Near-Mint”, but I gave them the lower rating because of fingerprints/scuffs/watermarks as I am not going to devote the time to cleaning each record!! I am a coin collector so I do have experience in differentiating between miniscule details & I will stand behind my grading! If you disagree with my grading, after receiving your record, please contact me before returning the LPs or leaving feedback to work out the situation!

RECORD RATING SYSTEM

Blue=My Grading Opinions

I GUARANTEE that these records WILL NOT skip!

MINT

It should appear to be perfect. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains, labels or writing, tears or splits. Mint means perfect.

To me, this means new, perfect, no marks, no prints, never played. Very few will make this grade.

NEAR MINT

Otherwise mint but has one or two tiny inconsequential flaws that do not affect play. Covers should be close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident: slight ring-wear, minor denting to a corner, or writing on the cover should all be noted properly.

I rank albums as “Near-Mint” if they are almost perfect, but have some minor defect that DOES NOT effect play! Several of these albums are in Mint   condition, but have small spots. Near-Mint records have no scratches.

VERY GOOD PLUS

The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a disc, there may be light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve or the vinyl or some of the original luster may be lost. A slight scratch that did not affect play would be acceptably VG+ for most collectors.

The key to this grade is “light paper scuffs” & “a slight scratch”. I use this rating for records that have “light paper scuffs” & “a slight scratch” (or 2). These scratches & scuffs are VERY light & only noticeable under an exam light and do not affect play! Records with more than 3 or 4 (total-both sides!) very light/short scratches are downgraded to VG! A LOT of the records in this category only have 1 or 2 very small light scratches and are otherwise in Near-Mint condition.

VERY GOOD

Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise, but should not overwhelm the musical experience. Usually a cover is VG when one or two of these problems are evident: ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, etc.

This rating is the most difficult. Most albums are placed in this category because of light surface scratches in excess of 3 or 4 total (maybe about 5 per side) & maybe some paper scuffs. The scratches are very light, but noticeable. The record still has excellent luster and should play with minimal noise. ALL of my single/double record sales will have LP’s graded at Very Good and up!

GOOD

Well played with little luster and significant surface noise. Despite defects, record should still play all the way through without skipping. Several cover flaws will be apparent, but should not obliterate the artwork

Well-Played, old, scratched record, but does not skip. Records with a Good or Poor rating that have no collectable value will be sold in lots!

.
POOR

Any record or cover that does not qualify for the above "Good" grading should be seen as Poor. Several cover flaws.

Sold for historical or collectable value only, bad condition, heavy scratches, skips, other defects, etc!! NOT cracked, chipped or broken!
