PUSSY – PUSSY PLAYS LP
This is an ORIGINAL of this incredibly rare and very highly sought-after progressive masterpiece which is now widely considered to be one of the ultimate British progressive rock mega-rarities. Pussy were formerly known as Fortes Mentum and this was their one and only album – but what an album ! To quote from The Tapestry of Dreams;
“The album’s a real gem. It kicks off with Come Back June, a keyboard driven rock number, which is followed by one of their finest, All Of My Life. With its unusual, melodramatic vocals and fine keyboard arrangements it’s well worth getting to hear. In contrast, one of the album’s other nuggets, We Built The Sun, is characterised by some lovely melodic guitar work and eerie harmonies. The other highlight is The Open Ground, which is again unusual and quite trippy with partly spoken lyrics. Comets is a maze of cosmic theramin-filled sound effects and there are some instrumental cuts, Tragedy In F. Minor (which features a nice mellotron intro.)…
The album was released on MORGAN BLUETOWN (BT 5002) in 1969. The fabulous textured flip-back sleeve with its fantastic cover art-work has a little light ring-wear and creasing and there has obviously been a label remove front top right (which took most of the "MORGAN BLUE TOWN" logo with it !) and extending around to a little on the back ie top left as you view the back (see photos) which someone has coloured in, along with some of the edging (quite nicely !) - again, see photo. The vinyl itself is in lovely glossy condition and clearly not been played many times at all ! (I’ve only ever played it once to record and it looks as though it was only perhaps played once or twice before that !). When I acquired it, the plastic inner sleeve was “stuck” to the record (you’ll all have seen this phenomenon before !) indicating that it had obviously not been out of its sleeve for many, many years (although the vinyl has been cleaned with “Record Restorer” and now looks fabulous, if you look closely, the very faint “ghost” effect of where it was stuck can just be noticed !). Anyway there you have it. I would say a very acceptable copy of HOLY GRAIL OF BRITISH PROGRESSIVE ROCK.
GO FOR IT – YOU MIGHT NEVER GET ANOTHER CHANCE OF ONE !!!
Due to the value of this album it will only be sent insured - please see below for additional postal insurance rates.
---------------------------------
SATISFACTION GUARANTEED – As a record collector for many years, I know only too well that, despite the various systems now used, grading remains largely subjective, everyone essentially having their own ideas as to what NM-, EX+, VG++ etc. should mean ! Instead, I try to describe each individual record (via a visual inspection) as honestly and accurately as I can – perhaps to the point of being overly critical, as even new records, let alone those of 30-40 year vintage, can have some marks ! However, if your standards are even higher and you are genuinely unhappy with my assessment, a refund of the purchase price will be given upon return of the record within 14 days, at buyer’s expense, in the same condition as sent. Please bear in mind that many (if not most !) vinyl records usually have at least one or two light surface marks (lines/scuffs/grazing) mainly from their paper inner-sleeves. As these do not normally affect play at all, such slight imperfections may not necessarily be specifically mentioned in the item description. Should you require clarification/confirmation on any point which might be of importance to you, please ask before placing a bid. If you’re happy with your record(s) and the service please tell others by leaving positive feedback – if you’re not, please tell me !

Whilst, of course, no extra charge is made for payments via PayPal, it would be very much appreciated if buyers, especially those within the UK could, wherever possible, make payment by other methods to help minimise costs. P&P rates quoted always include an additional element to reflect the extra expense of proper vinyl record packaging. All albums are sent in new custom LP mailers with additional stiffeners/padding as necessary for secure shipment. However, as no responsibility can be accepted for items lost or damaged in transit, postal insurance is strongly recommended. This is an extra 70p UK and £3.50 ROW (up to £30 value) and £3.50 UK/ £4.50 ROW (over £30 value).
