Description
I am clearing out years of accumulated possessions from my parent’s attic to give them some extra storage space and this has unearthed plenty of vintage items. Problem is that I do not have much room to store many of these, so most items, including this, will have to go. Other more recent purchases also need clearing from my garage as I want to see my car and get it back on the road.
I try to describe as accurately as possible all items regardless of value but if sometimes I do miss something please accept that it is not intentional or deliberate. Most auctions will feature low starts in the hope that most items will find a good home, primarily to cover costs from ebay and / or paypal, but some items I know are worth a fair amount and will have higher reserves. Please check my other auctions – you may see something you will want.
PUNK ROCK - 100 NIGHTS AT THE ROXY
A Collection of Black & White Photographs
In 1976 Punk Rock was rejected by the music industry, the media and established venues. Despite this on 1st January 1977 THE ROXY CLUB, LONDON WC2, opened exclusively for Punk Rock. The Roxy Club became the focal point of this new phenomenon. In its short intense existence the club featured every available Punk band. Then on 23rd April 1977 the club changed hands. But not before the spirit had been captured.
This covers the early bands including THE DAMNED, THE ADVERTS, THE SLITS, WIRE, SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES, , THE CLASH, PENETRATION, BUZZCOCKS, X-RAY SPEX, JOHNNY MOPED…..
This was published in 1978 by Big O Publishing Limited and is copyrighted to Michael Dempsey (the then manager for THE ADVERTS who is no longer with us). It is a First Edition (only edition to my knowledge) measuring approx 29.5 x 21 cm this books pages are un-numbered so as I don’t wish to count them I would estimate about 100 sides. It has excellent atmospheric photos of all your favourites both on stage and in the audiences. Text is limited to some band names and performance dates under some of the photos. Nice colour section of some of the gig flyers (possibly all of them).
Offered in a very good to excellent condition, this book has been read (or rather looked at) 'with care'. Cover is slightly kinked on the rear bottom but this should be capable of being pressed out (either with a careful iron or a tight book shelf). Some of the pages are no longer attached to the spine of the book but please note that this is due to the books construction. It features heavy pages that are inadequately glued to the spine. At the time this was the best copy I could find and was all fully intact but many brand new copies already had many loose pages while still in the shop for sale. Inside the pages are very clean, crisp and very almost mint.
Please remember that postage quotes are the worse case scenario. Packaging depends on what I have available at the time - if I can do it cheaper then I will. Bidders please be sure to read my terms and conditions as shown below.
- WINNERS
If you are the auction winner, please feel free to choose your postal option and send a Paypal payment or a Cheque straight away. However if you are unclear about the options or you wish for a variation then feel free to contact me as soon as you can.
- PAYMENT
This item is available to the UK via the payment methods outlined (Paypal, Bank / Building Society Draft, Personal Cheque, Postal Order), while outside of the UK I can only accept payment through Paypal. If an item is marked UK only, then it is just that. There will be a good reason behind this such as excessive weight for postage or customs / export considerations. Multiple Auction wins can be posted together to save on postal charges; quotes will be given to winners on request. If you want to combine with a future possible win then they can be paid together if within 3 days of each other, otherwise I would require payment on the first item with full postage. This would then be held over to the later possible wins when the winning bid plus the addition postage (if applicable) would be required prior to dispatch.
- DISPATCH
Once payment is made and confirmed (cheques will have to clear first) the item will be dispatched as quickly as possible with consideration to access to the Post Office. My local Post Offices often have excessive queues at the times when I can attend and I may have no option other than to return at another day / time. That said I couldn't see a delay being more than two working days.
- METHOD
The method of dispatch by post is your option. I will endeavour to advise the cost of all options available (first / second class, recorded delivery, special delivery, insurance etc) to help you to choose your best option, but once dispatched I will have completed my obligations, although I will always assist with any claims made on the insurance (if included). For some items I will recommend the best option, but at the end of the day it is your choice. All items will be well packed and allowance is made in the postal charges for the expected cost of packing (sometimes I will recycle good packaging but please do not complain). Some items by prior arrangement can be collected to keep excessive postal cost down (primarily for very large, heavy or bulky items). Postal Quotes for non UK destinations will be supplied on request. Heavier items may take a little longer to quote as I will have to make enquiries as opposed to looking it up in a book.
