Selling-up my record collection.

Ever gone to look at a job-lot on e-bay that says "punk", and it's all Boomtown Rats and Blondie? This isn't one of those.

I have been collecting records for 50 years (when finances allowed!), and now it's time to sell-up. I bought them mostly around local shops (second-hand), but sometimes from e-bay. Quite a lot of singles in very nice condition, as I may have had several copies through my hands, and kept the best one for the collection. Note that I'm in UK, so records are UK issue, unless I say different.

I have created a simple rating system for describing condition of the playing surface, on the singles from my collection. These are from visual inspection - with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. I will only rate the A-side. If I happen to know how it plays, I'll say. If I know something's a re-issue or later copy, I'll tell you. If unsure, I'll give you a picture of it, to judge for yourself. Have a good look at the pictures anyway, they are part of the description.

Ex(cellent) - If you would look at the record and think "that's in excellent condition..". From flawless to having very minor flaws not noticeable at first sight.

Good - Having a few scratches or marks - but not many, and not deep and ugly.

Not Bad - Scratchy, but not covered in scratches, and not awful - not what I think of as a "trench" across it!

Bad - I don't have many of these - bottom-of-the-range. Sometimes these still play in a worthwhile way, sometimes not.

There will be singles that fall between the above ratings - if there's just one, non-troublesome-looking mark, that would be Ex-Good.

I'll mention missing centres (only if it's been "dinked", not if there never was one).

I'll mention handwriting or sticky labels, or label damage. I tend to focus on A-sides, may miss issues on the B-side.

If there's a pic sleeve, I'll say so - if I don't say, I don't have it - and I'll offer a word on condition of the sleeve. Excellent doesn't mean perfect, just that there's no damage - may be formed to the disk's shape.

Many of the singles will be pictured, so you can see whether it comes in correct company sleeve. I don't guarantee that sleeve will be absolutely the correct one!

I do my best for my customers, on postal costs. You can send a LOT of singles for the U.K. Post Office's £2.95 "small parcel" deal. So I'll be selling the singles in batches, either single-artist collections or groups of similar artists (e.g. punk singles.) If you only want one out of a bundle, why not buy the lot, and sell the rest as a job-lot yourself?

Some will have to be sold individually, I have a few gems!

Dispatch will usually be "next day".

Collection in person is welcome.

I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK, but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad.

Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.

They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.

This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices. Combined postage is not possible through the Program.

International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, automatically added by E-Bay, if your country is included in the scheme.

If your country is not mentioned, please do not bid.
