Professor Wolfff lived a short and intensive life in the early 70s, as a part of the krautrock adventure - with gigs all over germany and a TV performance at the 'Talentschuppen' (ARD - first German channel). The band unexpectedly split in march 1972, shortly after producing their first album 'Prof. Wolfff', which was released in 1972 by Metronome. Along with Ihre Kinder and Ton, Steine, Scherben, an important political rockband from Berlin, Prof. Wolfff was one of the first progressive rock bands in Germany exclusively singing German rock songs, even before Udo Lindenberg released his first 'German' album. As a result, other musicians were inspired to compose rock songs using German language. 'Mixing pop, blues, jazz and classical with German political lyrics (krautrock style), Prof. Wolfff's self-titled album was produced by Ihre Kinder manager Jonas Porst. At times Prof. Wolfff sounds like a strong blues rock act mixed with a bit of classical and psychedelia while at other times they come off as a mixture of pop and barbershop. Prof. Wolfff's album contains five tracks, the three best of which are extended. Led by a great raw guitar sound and classical-styled hammond organ, 'Hetzjagd', the albums jewel, showcases the bands ability to piece together various elements into an accessible track. 'Hans Im Gluck' contains more prominent hammond organ. The two shorter tracks 'Missverstandnis' and 'Das Zimmer' are lighter fare and contain poppy chorus vocals. Finally, the album closes with 'Weh Uns', a heavier track containing a hard progressive sound highlighted by guitar solos and classical motifs. Now available as limited 1000 copy edition on 180 gr. Vinyl, comes with the original Foldopencover and has an additional booklet with unseen photographs.

Das erste und einzige Album von Prof. Wolfff wurde 1972 auf dem Metronome-Label veröffentlicht. Sie waren so etwas wie die progressive Ausgabe von Ihre Kinder: anspruchsvolle Texte in deutscher Sprache, verpackt in einer exzellenten progressiven Instrumentierung.
Das Album wurde übrigens von Jonas Porst (dem Sohn von Foto-Porst) produziert, der auch Manager und Produzent von Ihre Kinder und dadurch ein geeigneter Mann für eine deutschsprachige Rockproduktion war.

Prof. Wolfff aus Ulm gründeten sich 1971 und spielten eine Mischung aus Progressive-Rock,
Blues, Jazz und Klassik also genau die Verquickung von Stilarten, die als Krautrock
bezeichnet wurde. Treibende Kraft der Band war Sänger, Gitarrist und Pianist Klaus Peter
Schweizer, welcher für den Grossteil der Kompositionen und der durchweg deutschen Texte
zuständig war. Die textliche Hinwendung zu Alltagsproblemen und deren 'kritische'
Betrachtung brachten Prof. Wolfff, die im Mai 1972 ihren ersten und einzigen Tonträger bei
Metronome veröffentlichten bald den Ruf ein, eine politische Rockband zu sein, was aber
keineswegs oder nur bedingt zutraf... Songs wie Hetzjagd und Das Zimmer besitzen... noch
heute Aktualität...' Prof.Wolfff lebte kurz und intensiv - mit reichlich Gigs und einem
Fernsehauftritt beim ARD Talentschuppen - hat sich aber recht schnell im März 1972
aufgelöst, kurz nach der LP Produktion. Prof.Wolfff war nach Ihre Kinder und Ton Steine
Scherben eine der progressiven Rockgruppen der ersten Stunde, die ausschliesslich engagierte
deutsche Texte gesungen hat, noch bevor Udo Lindenberg sein erstes Album mit deutschen
Texten herausbrachte, was sich folglich auf die Entwicklung von Rocksongs in deutsch
auswirkte - Achim Reichel folgte, und noch viele andere bis heute. Jetzt wieder als 1000er
Vinyl Auflage erhältlich - im Original Klappcover - als 180 Gramm Pressung. Als Bonus
gibt es ein schönes Beiheft mit bisher unveröffentlichten Fotografien.
