Description
This is a private press record which there is very little information available. It is very good steel string guitar blues playing that is at times very similar to John Fahey.
Artist: Unknown? Only listed as Tom, George, Andy and The Band on the label. Another resource lists it as (members of) THE GALVANIZED STANDARD FAMILY SIZED SUNNYLAND WASHBOARD BAND
Title: Steel String Blues and Ragtime Music (From Client’s Taped Music)
Label: Panaramic
Catalog Number:AU-4475
I was able to find this information from a previous listing: Description: Only 110 copies pressed of this private blues lp from Westtown, PA. The matrix has 5-65 etched in it, which possibly dates the lp to 1965, and the list of artists they learned the songs from (Dave Van Ronk, Eric Von Schmidt, Tom Rush, Ian & Sylvia, etc.) would seem to back this up. The songs were originally performed by Mance Lipscomb, Skip James, Leadbelly, etc. The band members are Tom & George (no surname given), Brian Merrick and Andy MacDowell. Enthusiastic performances all around; many of the songs were recorded in one take, and have a looseness that would appeal to fans of the Holy Modal Rounders (they also cover "Hesitation Blues"), etc.. There is no mention anywhere online of this record, or the Panaramic custom label.
