For Auction: PRINCE – “When Doves Cry - Long Version” b/w "When Doves Cry - Short Version." 12 inch single PRO-A-2139, 1984 Warner Bros. Records. This is the hard to find very first promo single from the yet to be released album and film Purple Rain. Featuring a full color front cover showing purple flowers against a black background with only Prince's name attributed to this masterpiece song, not Prince and the Revolution. The back cover has a similar graphic background with the colors reversed. Very cool.

Vinyl is new and unsealed and has never been played by me. The record appears to have never been played at all but this is not confirmed. I held it up to sunlight and I saw no scratches or obvious wear. The label shows no spindle marks. Extremely shiny and new looking.

The cover is very crisp and clean with no obvious marks or creases. Only the lower L corner on the front shows a little wear. Please review photos to determine the condition for yourself. Feel free to ask any questions prior to the end of the auction. There are no returns and no refunds. This item is being sold as is.

As a collector I’ve always subscribed to the fact that Promotional Only records are more rare and valuable than the standard releases. The simple fact is they produced the promotional items in far fewer numbers and in some cases the promo items are unique, increasing their value even more.
