HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK CREATION RECORDS (CRELP 178) FIRST PRESSING (July 1997) OF PRIMAL SCREAM'S TREMENDOUS "Vanishing Point" DOUBLE LP - IN BEAUTIFUL, POSSIBLY COMPLETELY UNPLAYED CONDITION

THE GATEFOLD SLEEVE STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL SHRINK-WRAPPING AND IS IN MINT CONDITION
THE TWO PHOTO INNER SLEEVES ARE ALSO MINT
THE TWO THICK, HEAVYWEIGHT FIRST PRESS RECORDS HAVE SOME PRESSING BLEMISHES COMMON WITH CONTEMPORARY VINYL BUT PLAY NEAR MINT (AS CLOSE TO 'AS-NEW' AS YOU ARE EVER LIKELY TO FIND)
BOTH RECORDS HAVE A SPEED INDICATION OF 33rpm BUT ACTUALLY PLAY AT 45rpm

A REALLY TREMENDOUS RECORD - SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL AND A FINER COPY WOULD BE VERY HARD TO LOCATE INDEED - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Primal Scream found themselves in danger of losing their hip audience in the wake of their misconceived trad-rock record, Give Out But Don't Give Up. As a reaction, they returned to the genre-bending, electronic dance-rock of the seminal Screamadelica for Give Out's follow-up, Vanishing Point. Instead of recycling the dazzlingly bright neo-psychedelia of Screamadelica, Primal Scream reaches deep into cavernous dub and '60s pop.
Vanishing Point is a dark, trippy album, filled with mind-bending rhythms and cinematic flourishes.
The addition of former Stone Roses bassist Mani to the Scream gives their music an organically funky foundation that had been lacking.
Over those rhythms are samples, reverbed guitars, and synthesizers that echo spy movies, Southern soul, and the Stones.
Above anything else, Vanishing Point is about sound and groove.
Words remain a weak point for Bobby Gillespie, who only manages cohesive lyrics on the swirling "Burning Wheel" and "Star," but that is a secondary concern, since Primal Scream is at its best when working the rhythms.
Songs like "Kowaliski" and, in particular, the extended instrumentals of "Get Duffy" and "Trainspotting" illustrate that the group is still capable of creating exotic, thoroughly entrancing sounds, which is what makes Vanishing Point remarkable

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and NO spindles. IN MY OPINION THIS COPY HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN but as is common with contemporary presses there are some surface blemishes - these have NO audio consequence
VINYL Audio: The audio is OUTSTANDING - POWERFUL DEEP, RICH and VIBRANT SOUND WITH A TREMENDOUS LOUD CUT. There are NO scratches, NO sticks/jumps, just the occasional click/pop - very minor, nothing AT ALL intrusive and just about the closest to MINT you are likely to find. FANTASTIC LP. The record plays to an extremely high standard with NO groove-wear or distortion (its never been played) and must be graded NEAR MINT for audio. GREAT COPY. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'About Me' page)
SLEEVE: The 1st issue gatefold sleeve is in MINT condition. It is still shrink-wrapped and I have not opened it out so there are no photographs of the inside - it has just been slit along the opening edge to remove the records
INNER SLEEVE: The 2 photo inners are also MINT- BEAUTIFULLY CLEAN with SHARP edges - NO splits - AS-NEW. The records are now housed - and will be posted in - new inners to prevent any 'knifing' damage to the originals during transit
