ORIGINAL 1970 LP ON THE US WB LABEL, STEREO FB 1848
Super obscure 1970 LP written and arranged by David Axelrod under the nom de anonymous of Pride. Spare, light and breezy popsike with a Spanish vibe. Plenty of David’s usual instrumentation – harpsichord, strings, vibes – and a singer who’s a dead ringer for Lloyd Cole, for some reason, a decade and a half before the Commotions even existed. Imagine Lloyd Cole covering Love’s Forever Changes and it might sound like this.
