After surfacing in 2000 with the breakthrough single "Yellow," COLDPLAY quickly became one of the biggest bands of the new millennium, honing a mix of introspective Brit-pop and anthemic rock that landed the British quartet a near-permanent residence on record charts worldwide.
Named for the courier service that allowed them to trade song ideas while living in different locales, THE POSTAL SERVICE were a short-lived supergroup featuring Jimmy Tamborello (leader of the electronica bands DNTEL and FIGURINE) and DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE's Ben Gibbard.
THE HEAVENLY STATES are a band from California whose bracing blend of pop, indie rock, and agit-prop folk rock has earned them a reputation as one of the most exciting acts to emerge on the West Coast in the new millennium. The Heavenly States were founded by guitarist, singer, and lyricist Ted Nesseth from the ashes of his earlier punk-influenced act FLUKE STARBUCKER along with Masanori Mark Christianson of THE LOTUS EATERS.
Members of these bands have also been (or are currently) in the bands: THE LOTUS EATERS, MASANORI, FLUKE STARBUCKER, ALL-TIME QUARTERBACK, KIND OF LIKE SPITTING, PINWHEEL, HEADSET, AMBULANCE, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, DNTEL and FIGURINE as well as a host of others.
