Description
MONSTER FUZZ GARAGE BEAST here, kids! Super rare 60's slab by Plastic Laughter, covering Jimi Hendrix on "I Don't Live Today" b/w "You Can't Win" - such a mind-blowing behemoth, even the label is called HEAVY! This beast crawled out of the Michigan 60's scene, it's been said 1967 - I've seen it selling for $240 with a picture sleeve, $100 without. This one doesn't have a picture sleeve, which means I'm out $140. But you can still enjoy the sounds, and that's what really matters. Their cover of Jimi Hendrix (spelled "Jimmy" here for some reason) starts out with a brief snippet of backwards music, which is promptly snuffed out and stomped on by a monumental BLAST of distorted FUZZ guitar. This whole thing rips and snorts like a bucking bronco, stomping thunderously through a generous 3:30 of furious funk psych with some over-the-top wah wah fuzz guitar and some earth-shaking rolling thunder drums. Even the vocalist seems to be really trying to imitate Jimi's vocal style - and hey, he was still very much ALIVE back then! But Plastic Laughter is punkier where Jimi's funkier, and this is what it might sound like if the Experience were some late 60's teen garage band from Saginaw, Michigan. The flipside, "You Can't Win", is a band original, and it's a GREAT jazzy subdued bit of garage funk with a shufflin' beat and real good guitar riff. Neither one of these songs have been comped, although both of 'em should be, and pronto. So hear 'em now, while you still can. Original 60's release on the HEAVY label. Vinyl plays VG+. Winning bidder pays $3.00 first class shipping in the US, $4 air mail back to Canada, and $6 air mail everywhere else. Paypal, Bidpay, cash, checks and money orders accepted.
