I have for sale my own, personal copy of Saucerful of Secrets - with no reserve! I bought this album brand new shortly after its release, 45 years ago. It is the original, mono, UK edition from 1968, number SX 6258 and is a first issue. David Gilmour's name is wrongly spelled as "Gilmore" on the both the label and the sleeve. Columbia EMI corrected this later that year, but some first issue copies bear the mis-spelling. I played this album quite a lot in the 1960's, but looked after it very well. It was never lent out and always returned to its sleeve after being played. The record (vinyl and label) remain in excellent condition and so is the sleeve. I have kept this for a long time (always in an outer polythene sleeve) as I really liked the album and sleeve, but have parted from my turntable, disposed of my other LP's and this is the last album to go.

The LP is flat and without warp. Stamped on Side 1 between the run-off groove and label at 6 o'clock is XAX 3633-1. At 3 o'clock it is stamped 'P'. Stamped on the label just below the spindle hole is 'T'. Stamped on Side 2 is XAX 3634-1 at 6 o'clock. At 3 o'clock it is stamped 'M'. These makers marks, along with the mis-spelling of Dave Gilmour's name, prove this is a rare, first issue of Saucerful of Secrets.

The vinyl is shiny and black, flat, unwarped and in truly excellent condition, but not mint perfect. I can detect two very slight scuffs on side 1. These are not scratches, just light scuffs. On side 2, I can detect one light scuff. Also, under a very bright light it is possible to detect some 'hairlines', the extremely light and soft markings that are made when the vinyl is placed in and out of the inner sleeve. They are not scratches. I imagine the album still plays perfectly. The labels have no marks, stickers or writings, but naturally there is some evidence of use around the spindle hole.

The sleeve is also in excellent condition. The spine is all good and reads 'Pinkfloyd' (not Pink Floyd or pinkfloyd). There is a bit of slight creasing on the front cover and the bottom right shows slight wear. But no stickers, writing, stains or marks. The reverse also remains excellent. No writing or stickers and just a small, light mark on the cheek of Nick Mason's face. Along the foot of the reverse side, where the cover flips over, it reads - 6807 TPS Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending SX 6258/SCX 6258. The sleeve is better than it looks in the pictures, because the flashlight is highlighting every slight imperfection in the photographs. The inner sleeve is an EMI company sleeve promoting 32 other albums from that time. It is printed in black on off-white paper. (EMI started printing this inner sleeve in a red/brown colour after 1968. But this early print is in black). This inner sleeve also has no writing or marks on it, but the paper is fairly thin and is worn on both sides and the bottom.

As you probably know, this was the last Pink Floyd album featuring the great and legendary Syd Barrett. Syd features here on his own composition, Jugband Blues. He also contributes guitar on Rem oneember A Day and possibly other number, according to the book 'A Saucerful of Secrets'.

Please look carefully at my pictures of this item, read my text and then decide what you would like to pay for this rare album. Few of this age, provenance, condition and rarity become available, especially direct from their first owner. I am not a dealer, just someone who loved Pink Floyd around this time in their development. There will be no reserve on this auction. I have been told that this album should be valued at £400. But I am offering it for far less and trust it will find its own level. Please bid early, as I am honestly offering this to whoever makes the best bid. Many buyers put in bids in the final few seconds, so I urge you to think carefully and place your best bid in time, so not to get caught out.

I will mail worldwide. Ebay have not allowed me to state overseas mailing costs, so please see next paragraph for costs. I have been told that bids from outside the UK may be blocked by ebay. Mailing costs will be more than average as I will insure this album for the selling price plus the mailing cost. It will be sent Special Delivery or similar or Air Mail and will need to be signed for on receipt. If you are a UK buyer and do not agree that my description is accurate or believe it misleading, email me and return the album with my agreement (at your own expense) for a cost price refund. If you are bidding from outside the UK and I need to add a customs label, I will declare the value at cost price. I will not accept returns from outside the UK as it can be held up at UK customs and I would need to pay taxes and costs to get it back.

I will mail out within a day or two of receiving cleared funds. It will be packed in a double thickness card mailer to ensure safe arrival. I will charge £7 to send to a UK address. £13 to airmail to an EU address. £18 to airmail to the rest of the world. This will be sent insured, recorded, to be signed for and with proof of posting.
