Description
Here we have the "Holy Grail" of Collectors items from the Legends that are PINK FLOYD. Titled ; "THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" (1973), this is the FIRST PRESSING of the LP & is SUPER RARE.
This is a COLLECTOR'S ITEM, it being RARE in this particular form. The rarity comes mostly from the large LIGHT BLUE TRIANGLE with SILVER lettering on both labels. Apparently, it soon became evident that the colour made it almost impossible to read the song titles & it was changed to the (much more common) plain Black colour soon after initial release. This VERY FIRST PRESSING has the Matrix of SHVL 804 A-2 / B-2.
Condition :- VINYL :- Side 1 :- Visually EXCELLENT+ (superb, clean surface); Plays as EXCELLENT+ ( a Great deep, clear Sound). *Sorry to say that the label has the faint remains of a name (mine, I'm afraid) in blue ink, age faded by now (I did write it 52 years ago; we did that sort of thing in those days !).* Side 2 :- Visually EXCELLENT+ (no visible surface marks, but possibly has a tiny, invisible, pressing fault that causes the 2 clicks on "Us And Them"); Plays perfectly all the way through apart from the 2 clicks right at the start of "Us And Them" (Great Dynamic Sound) still Graded as EXCELLENT (but, no plus). *Again, the Blue label has the remains of my name (much fainter, this time). If only I had known back in the day !*
Gatefold SLEEVE (one open side, only):- EXCELLENT- (A notoriously difficult sleeve to keep perfect; just some wear rub to bottom edge & minor corner rub + minor ring wear; otherwise EXCELLENT, I doubt if you'll see many better.
SPINE:- EXCELLENT (just the expected crease lines from opening out flat) . 2 Large Colour Posters :- EXCELLENT+ / NEAR MINT. 2 postcard size, TRANSFER STICKERS complete with backing papers, UNUSED, NEAR MINT / EXCELLENT+.
Overall Package Graded @ EXCELLENT (Very Nearly Perfect, but not quite).
