PINK FLOYD Atom Heart Mother (Harvest SHVL 781) RARE UK 1st Press No EMI EX+
RARE first UK pressing of Pink Floyd`s "Atom Heart Mother", released on Harvest Records (October 1970).
"I was listening through earphones, and so three-dimensional and realistic were the sounds that I took off the phones to see who was breaking in. I couldn't believe it to be part of the record. Once I got over that, though, it was the same insubstantial melange as the rest of the record. If Pink Floyd is looking for some new dimensions, they haven't found them here." - Alec Dubro, Rolling Stone - December 10, 1970.
GRADING:
EX+ COVER. Unlaminated first UK pressing gatefold sleeve with light wear. Please see photos for details.
- Light record imprint on rear sleeve only.
- A few minor creases to the spine, front and back.
- Minimal wear (scuffing) to bottom edge.
- Small stain on front sleeve (top left).
- Light corner wear to bottom edges.
- Slightly bent corner on rear sleeve (at bottom left).
- Also incudes the original Harvest Records inner sleeve in EX condition. No seam splits.
EX RECORD, carefully played a few times. Very fine audio reproduction throughout.
- A few superficial hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- The track "If" has two or three small, non-sounding scuffs.
- Sporadic background crackle in the run-in, in a few quiet passages and between (some) tracks.
- Original UK first-pressing Harvest Records labels, pre-EMI box, with "The Gramophone Co. Ltd." and "Made in Gt. Britain" lettering.
- A single spindle line on each label.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "SHVL 781 A-1 G" and "SHVL 781 B-1 G", indicating a very first UK pressing.
- Mothers/Stampers: "1 / A P" on Side One and "2 / H R" on Side Two.
- This record is fully certified to be an original UK first pressing of "Atom Heart Mother", released in October 1970.
