Animals A2/B3 (very early pressing)
This A2/B3 pressing is in excellent condition. The A2/B2 first pressings were manufactured in relatively low numbers and as the A2/B3 ones were produced at the same time they are generally considered as first pressings also. What is very rare about this particular vinyl is that it has no Stamper letters on the run out grooves, only Mother numbers. I cannot find another one like this on pinkfloydarchives.com

Visual grading
The vinyl is very clean and there are some faint hairlines no doubt caused by sleeve removal. There are no scratches and whilst there is some spindle wear the record plays very well especially Side One which is Near Mint.
Play grading
There is no lead in static and apart from a couple of very soft dust ticks at the start 'Pigs on the Wing1' plays as Mint the quality is that good. There is no interference and for such a quiet track to play so well on a 40 year old vinyl is very rare. 'Dogs' also has to be heard to be believed! The audio is just so clear with almost no background static etc. The odd dust tick perhaps but you get that even with new vinyl. During the quiet middle section there is a brief moment of static and one faint click but that is the only negative, if you can call it that, on an otherwise near Mint track. As is always the case on the early pressings the ending does play with a little distortion.
'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' does have a little static in the quieter sections but in my humble opinion it does not intrude with the listening. There is certainly no loud crackle and no pops. The track still plays very clearly and whilst the quality isn't quite as high as Side One the audio is still of an excellent standard and especially so for an A2/B3 pressing. The very quiet intro to 'Sheep' has a little static and a handful of very light clicks. The remainder of the track plays very well with just some light static again here and there. The clarity however is excellent and the sporadic interference is not intrusive. 'Pigs On The Wing2' ends the side with excellent audio and only minor static that is almost negligible.
Gatefold cover
The G & L gatefold cover is in overall excellent condition with only a little shelf wear. The edges do have some rubbing but is not excessive. The top and bottom of the spine has some wear as does the top right corner. The top of cover on the front and back has some minor spotting as can be seen in the photos. Overall the cover is very clean with no further marking. Some light creasing here and there. The inside is in excellent condition with only very light spotting in a couple of areas.
It has no bar code as per the first presses and also has the front edge of the gatefold sealed with a foldunder. In the lower right corner, it says "Made and printed in Great Britain 7701 TM Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd."
Lyric sleeve
The cardboard lyric inner has the rounded corners as per the first pressings. It has no splits, just a small area of wear on each side where the record has been rubbing. There is some creasing in the bottom right hand corner. It has the 9-inch thumb notch on the edge with the catalogue number 'SHVL 815(I) in the lower right corner'.
Labels
They have some spindle wear and a little spotting but no writing.
