Public Image Limited - PIL Metal Box is the 2nd Album. The 3 vinyl records are in near mint condition. Pristine. Possibly never played.The "Metal Box" album by Public Image Ltd (PiL), released in 1979. It is PiL's second album, considered a seminal post-punk work. The first 50,000 copies were packaged in a metal film canister. It contains three 12-inch 45-rpm vinyl discs. The music is described UK Punk - Post Punk, as dark, experimental, and defying genre pigeonholing. The album's packaging was radical and remains futuristic. It has been reissued in various formats, including a CD tin.
PiL, fronted by John Lydon (formerly Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols), formed in 1978. The name "Public Image" comes from a book by Muriel Spark, "The Public Image".
1977 is largely regarded as the year that classic punk died, and primarily because of Sex Pistols. Following the release of “God Save the Queen”—and its immediate ban by the BBC—the Sex Pistols were essentially declared Public Enemy No. 1. Sex Pistols lead singer Johnny Rotten (aka John Lydon) began to fear for his life after an onslaught of hecklers essentially declared him the devil-incarnate in response to thesingle; this sparked massive change.
