PICTURE TO BURN is Taylor's first major revenge album, inspired by a narcissistic high school classmate named Jordan Alford. Swift co-wrote the 2006 track with Liz Rose after growing frustrated with Alford's massive ego and his obsession with driving a big, old pickup truck.
The song's fiery lyrics capture the classic teenage feeling of dumping an ex-lover and fantasizing about getting even. In interviews, Swift frequently joked that the song proved she was a nice person, but the rule was simple -- if someone broke her heart or was mean to her, they were going to get a song written about them.
