PETER HAMMILL - RARE! ORIGINAL UK RELEASE! 'CHAMELEON IN THE SHADW OF THE NIGHT'.
Album vinyl is in mint condition and played once, maybe twice by me in my 'serious' Prog days! Also the cover is a light honey-comb textured finish consistent with many British releases of the time (as seen in the photos) and has NO split seams or ring or shelf wear. It has been in a plastic bag and shelved for 50 years! There is one faded blemish on the upper right corner of the cover. The plastic bag containing the LP had pricing marked (from a marker pen) on the outside of the bag and over the years it apparently bled through to the cover. It's really pretty innocuous.
Peter Hammill was the founder, lead singer and principle writer for Van Der Graaf Generator, one of the more critically acclaimed bands of the Prog Era. This was Peter's second solo release in 1973 and is a first edition issue. A progressive rock fusion of folk elements and Art Rock and you understand the foundational landscape of Peter's musical vision. His vision carries on today as he has released more than fifty albums since his solo debut in 1971!
SPECIAL NOTE TO SERIOUS COLLECTORS: On the matrix runout, etched in the vinyl is B-1U and "Sofa So Good." The two capital S' are two times larger than the other letters. On the other side in the same spot you will see A-2U. These engravings are rare and specific to this release. Hence the higher value as this is the most sought after version according to Popsikes.
