Peter Gabriel - 'Passion' - Music for 'The Last Temptation Of Christ' 12" inch double vinyl LP (33 rpm) – Real World - 1989 #st#
Description
- 12 inch, stereo, double LP. 33 1/3 rpm.
- Issued in 1989 on Gabriel's own 'Real World' label
- The music was originally composed for the Martin Scorcese film 'The Last Temptation Of Christ' but Gabriel spent some time working on it in the studio before releasing it as a fully realised double album, rather than just a strictly soundtrack album
- The album features such musical luminaries as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Youssou N'Dour, Baaba Maal, L.Shankar, Billy Cobham and David Sancious, as well as Peter Gabriel himself
- Track listing: Side A:- "The Feeling Begins"; "Gethsemane"; "Of These, Hope"; "Lazarus Raised"; "Of These, Hope – Reprise"; "In Doubt"; "A Different Drum"
Side C:- "Sandstorm"; "Stigmata"; "Passion"; "With This Love (Choir)"

- Produced by Peter Gabriel and engineered by David Bottrill and mixed by the two of them. Mastered by Ian Cooper
- Recorded in 1988 and 1989 at Real World Studios
- Front cover features 'Drawing study for Self Image II' by Julian Grater, the back cover is a micrograph by James Bell.
- The inner sleeves include full track listings and musicians involved and liner notes by Peter Gabriel with selected stills from the film by Mario Tursi
- Fully annotated inner sleeves
- Catalogue number RWLP1 /303-359
- Matrix marks:- Side A: RWLP 1 A-2U-1-1
- Side B: RWLP 1 B-2U-1-1
- Side C: RWLP 1 C-2U-1-4
- Side D: RWLP 1 D-2U-1-1
- 'TOWNHOUSE' is hand-etched on all four sides.
Condition
- The records are in excellent condition. No discernible marks or scratches on either disc, apart from a score mark on the label of side C, and no signs of warping. (We have not been able to play the LPs so we cannot attest to playback quality).
- The outer sleeve has no marks, creases or signs of wear. The inner sleeves have some slight spotting but are otherwise in very good condition(see photos) .
