Incidental Beats

Rezpektiva France

12" Cat: REZ 37
Rel: 17 Aug 26
Minimal House/Tech House Side 1. Incidental Beats Side 2 - Track 1. Incidental Beats (Hard Stuff mix) Side 2 - Track 2. Incidental Beats (Trippy San-Francisco live mix)

The latest missive from Berlin outlet Rezkeptiva brings us a fresh edition of a cult classic from France's first tech-house wave: 2002's 'Incidental Beats' EP by People on Process (Gilles Dewilder and Nicolas Kavadias) and Jean-Marie K. The trio's original mix, which nestles on side A, is undeniably attractive, with low register TB-303 acid loops and spacey stabs rising above a thickset, bongo-laced beats and a warm, funky bassline. As it did back in the early 2000s, it comes backed with the 'Hard Stuff mix', a more loopy and energetic pass more clearly influenced by futurist techno of the period, and the superior 'Trippy San Francisco Live Mix'. As the title suggests, this wavy, dubby and chunky affair is more heavily influenced by the tech-tinged West Coast US deep house sound of the period.
