Paul and Linda McCartney - 'Ram'. PAS 10003

Paul and Linda McCartney 1970's UK 2nd Apple pressing of the 'Ram' album. Released 5th June 1971, this copy is of particular interest due to the fact it has two different style labels on each side and a very unusual NON-GATEFOLD cover. It is offered here in great EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ condition.

The best way to tell this apart from the standard UK issue is to simply view the pictures below but I will briefly describe the differences. The two vinyl labels attached here do not match each other. Side one has a standard UK light Apple label with the usual Apple Records rim print font. Side two has a different style label with much more elaborate rim print font. I have included large pictures of the differences. The most notable difference is the cover. I always thought this came housed within a fully laminated gatefold cover but here we have a front laminated cover with a matt finished reverse (not gatefold). The cover and vinyl both carry the same UK catalogue number PAS 10003. All text is in English and visually looks similar to the gatefold version.

It has been suggested to me that this is some kind of unused prototype sleeve. Created as a cheaper to produce alternative to the gatefold issue for use with the 2nd press (light Apple) vinyl housed within. This actually does make sense but to be honest I never seen this variation in years of collecting and cannot confirm the idea.

The Matrix numbers are:

Side 1. YEX 837-2 1 11

Side 2. YEX 838-2 1 (3 additional digits I cannot make out)

The vinyl is in EXCELLENT condition on side one and EXCELLENT+ condition on side two. Both sides of the vinyl have been play tested with NO faults just some light crackle.

Both labels are in MINT- condition. PERFECT.

The sleeve is in VERY GOOD+ condition. 5 holes punched in top right corner? Apple sticker on rear and minor water stain. VERY UNUSUAL.

The inner sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition. Light creasing.
