Paul McCartney and Wings - 'Helen Wheels / Country Dreamer'. R 5993

Paul McCartney 1973 UK 1st FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO pressing of the 'Helen Wheels / Country Dreamer' 7" single. Released on the 26th October 1973, and offered here complete with the original Wings sleeve, Wings comp slip and rare 'A is for Apple Records' promotional sticker.

'Helen Wheels' was the name Paul gave to his Land Rover, and the song tells the story of a trip from Paul's Scottish farm down to London.

These initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant. This has a radio station stamp to the a-side so was originally designated for air play.

Released on the Apple Records label the a-side features a 'FACTORY SAMPLE NOT FOR SALE' sticker along with radio station stamp. A wonderful rare issue of this single from Paul, a great addition to any Beatles or Apple collection.

The Matrix numbers are:

Side 1. 7YCE 21734-3U 1 G M

Side 2. 7YCE 21735-1U 2 R G

The vinyl is in VERY GOOD+ condition on the a-side and EXCELLENT condition on the b-side.

Both labels are in EXCELLENT condition. ‘Factory Sample’ sticker, radio stamp and radio hand written text.

The sleeve is in VERY GOOD+ condition.
