PAOLO RENOSTO - DRAMMATICO PER QUARTETTO D’ARCHI on FLOWER (LEW O548) from 1973

Description: Very rare Italian library LP by master Paolo Renosto (also known under the alias Lesiman), published by obscure Flower label from Rome, home of many Alessandroni / Rino De Filippi / Raskovich productions. Not merely a funk album, as you can expect from Lesiman, but a complex drama giallo tension scenes using a direction and of a string quartet (2 violins, viola, violoncello). Expect so a lot of sinister-experimental atmospheres, articulated, mature and complex. It seems that his main intent was to further highlight the chromatic range of a composition and this is extremely hard to obtain with a string quartet because there’s a violin more that amplify the twelve-tone (dodecaphony), but perfect to imagine a dramatic scene or giallo imaginary situation. “Alternanza” (B9), “Ostinato” (A1), “Constrasto” (A7).. are a perfect example. To understand this concept I recommend to listen to one of his early studio work “Variazioni per quartetto d’archi” (from 1955). A genius and definitively a great LP, not for everybody! Rare!

Conditions: Original picture sleeve cover is EX, small tear on the bottom left corner. Spine is perfect. Overall is EX++, was in the original shrink. Record is EX+.
