"Pain in my belly", Blue Beat BBLP 804, simply one of the best and rarest Blue Beat LP's you'll ever come across. Some fantastic hard hitting ska tunes from Tommy McCook, Don Drummond, The Skatalites and Prince Buster, some outstanding instrumental solos and top vocal cuts.
Prince Buster hits both highs & lows on this LP. His "Chinaman Ska" is a wicked instrumental, whilst "Faith" is possibly his all time vocal low-point ! "Super Charge" is a total classic Skatalites tune, and Don Drummond's "Ska Town" is perhaps the highlight of the LP.
Condition-wise, the cover has two small splits in the centre of the top and vertical spines, whilst the open bottom edge is just starting to split. The back cover has some writing at across the top, otherwise it's very clean.
The vinyl I've played through at full treble without a skip or jump. There's no background hiss and it looks pretty clean throughout, a few surface marks but nothing nasty at all. There's occasional crackle, most noticeable on The Eric Morris track on side two. There's also two loud "pops", one on "Chinaman ska", the other right at the end of "Ska School", the last track on side two.The vinyl has lots of play left in it, and the wear that is there really doesn't interfere with the pleasure of any track other than the Eric Morris track.
Take note - this LP hasn't been skimmed,boiled,"sent to the cleaners"or otherwise tampered with.
As I'm sure you're aware, a really hard record to pick up, even record collector, (notoriously inept at pricing reggae), lists this one at £250. With a £1 start price and no reserve, -have fun bidding.
