Notes: In May 1976 Oswald Wiener visited Dieter Roth in his studio in Mosfellssveit on Iceland. The recording TOTE RENNEN Lieder, published in an edition of 500 in 1977, is the result of this meeting. TOTE RENNEN is a piece about allegories and insights, a chamber music version of "selten gehörte musik", a series that Roth and Wiener initiated with companions like Gerhard Rühm and Günter Brus in 1971 with the "3. Berliner Dichterworkshop".

Dieter Roth (April 21, 1930 – June 5, 1998) was a Swiss artist best known for his artist's books, editioned prints, sculptures, and works made of found materials, including rotting food stuffs. He was also known as Dieter Rot and Diter Rot.
