Here we have a truly ultra rare vinyl designed by ORTOFON, intended  to showcase their decades of sound engineering and technology while also serving as a tribute to the great Danish conductor and composer: Hans Christian Lumbye.

What this vinyl is all about:

This is a direct cut record with, on one side, a selection of music by the popular Danish composer, Hans Christian Lumbye, played by the Tivoli Symphony directly recorded in the concert hall of Copenhagen's world famous Tivoli Gardens, of which is the highest quality enabling listeners to assess concert hall realism in the comfort of their own homes. Lumbye conducted the Tivoli Symphony for many years during the mid 1800's. He died in 1874. This is somewhat of a tribute to him. On the the reverse side contains a series of test signals covering tone arm resonance, tracking ability, channel separation, inter-modulation, phasing, channel orientation and broadband noise. By listening to them you can make your pick up assessment by ear, without recourse to measuring instruments. You can actually analyze the performance of your pick-up cartridge as well as its interaction with your tone arm and turntable. This vinyl serves as an amazing educational tool for those who are interested in the history of sound engineering.  I have taken high resolution photos of the inside 'story' so that you can read more about the creation of this vinyl and what makes it so special. This album is very hard to come by and is extremely rare. First edition.

VINYL GRADING: MINT, or NM+. To my best of my ability, I can see that this vinyl has been played only handful of times. Acquired from an estate sale here in beautiful Telluride, Colorado.

SLEEVE GRADING:  EX. There is some roughing on the corners and sides, but it isn't too harsh. Also a few  bends/crinkles on the backside, also one tiny small spot of dis-colorization (probably from rubbing against another cover). The inner sleeve that folds out is beautiful, sheeny, with no defects.
