Discs made with the first stamping disc created from the master disc are called first pressings; this usually includes Promotional Copy discs. These discs have the best possible audio fidelity. When the first stamping disc is considered worn out a second disc is made from the master. Discs made from this are second pressings, and so it goes. About the album:

Released in 1992, 'Rage Against The Machine' is the debut album by Rage Against The Machine, the greatest American rap metal rock and roll band. The band was successful at integrating rap and heavy metal sound as well as having statements of purpose in the lyrics by the lead singer Zack de la Rocha. In addition, Guitarist Tom Morello is one of the best guitar players of modern times and the rhythm section of Brad Wilk and Tim Bob is second to none. This is absolutely a must-have addition to your rock and roll collection.

Critical Response

In 2001, Q magazine named Rage Against the Machine as one of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time. The album is included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. In 2003, the album was ranked number 368 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

The album is known for its high production values, which are almost to the strictest audiophile standards. Some audiophile sites and magazines even go as far as using the album — in particular the song "Take the Power Back" — to test amplifiers and speakers.[16]

Acclaimed BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe named Rage Against the Machine as one of four 'Masterpieces'. This was his best album, on December 2, 2008.

In October 2011, Rage Against the Machine was ranked number five on Guitar World magazine's top ten list of guitar albums of 1992.
