Description
This is a Sun 242 shellac original pressing from Sun, Memphis, Tennessee. It is not a Bootleg or Reproduction. It is NOT VINYL. This will crack if you try to FLEX IT.
Embossed in script into the shellac near Sun Label: Sun U-192 and 9452 on Ooby Dooby side and Sun U-193 and 9154 on Flip Side.
The grooves are shiny and the record surface is free of defects or signs of use. This was a left over from my Record Hunting days for supply my 78 RPM playing jukeboxes. I would NEVER put a clean Rock and Roll or Rare 78 on a Jukebox when sold. Only 78's that had been played. The heavy tone arms on Wurlitzer 1940's Jukeboxes would grind a record into a powder after 100 plays. Probably less.
This was NEVER played on a jukebox. Jukebox operators would buy multiples of hits to play on their route. This one just never appeared to been played. I have not played it on a phonograph, as I do not have a phonograph.
I 'GRADE' this as near Fine. Near Mint with no physical appearances of being on a vendor's route. It is NOT new old stock. Much like an uncirculated silver dollar it has been handled but not laying loose in a carton of 25 78's without sleeves... This does not show scuffing, either. Even the Label is clean and faultless.
I handled thousands of 78's and 45's in the late 1970's at vending companies to resell. This is one of a few that ended up in a carton with a group of Vinyl 78s Classic Juke Box Rock N' Roll Greatest Hits- Volume 1. Those were shut down quickly as they used Authentic looking labels. Even these are, I guess, collectable. Some 'collectors' get fooled on those, but they are obvious modern copies. They do sound good...
The sleeve of course is not original. I never saw a sleeve for a Sun 78. I had sleeves for Sun 45's but would sell SUN Elvis 45's in the sleeves, even though they were probably after the fact. It looked nicer.
