Description
This is a really rare album, very hard to find. It is titled "oldies in hi-fi". It is from Chess records, made in 1958. It is Chess LP 1439 - high fidelity. This is a special Promotional Copy / DJ Copy. The neat feature of these Chess Promotional copies from this year, is that the record itself is multi-colored. A very unique record loaded with great songs from various artists of the time. Legend Chess artists of the time are on this record, making it one of Chess's best. On side one is a rocking opener from Buddy and Claudia - "I Want To Hug You, Kiss You, Squeeze You". The second song is one of the decades biggest hits with Willie Mabon doing 'I Don't Know". No. 3 is "Suzie Q" by Dale Hawkins. No. 4 is "HI HO Baby" by Jackie Brenston. No. 5 is "Hey Little Girl" by John Godfrey Trio. And the last song on side 1 is "Poison Ivy" by Willie Mabon. Side 2 has Jackie Brenston opening with "Rocket "88" . No. 2 is "Sugaree" by Rusty York. No. 3 is the song that kicked off the career of Bobby Charles, with "See You Later Alligator". No. 4 song is "I'm Mad" by Willie Mabon. No. 5 is 'Over The Mountain, Across The Sea" by Johnnie & Joe. And the last song on side 2 is "All Of My Life" by Calvin Bostic. These are great songs by great artists, and all on a serious collector album you won't find often. This is one of the hardest albums to find with the Promotional multi-colored DJ version. The album and cover are in very good condition. The cover has minor wear on the edge in a few places, but very good condition otherwise.
