Description

Original USA pressing of an LP titled  OUT OF SIGHT!  on Design Records #DLP-269.  As is typical for this budget label, this LP was compiled in the hopes that it's selections would make the buyer believe he was purchasing all the groovy hip hit sounds of the day so there's some famous names on the front (Tommy Roe, Paul Revere & Raiders) and some names that sound LIKE famous names (The Beachnuts). But the songs by the famous names are not their hits of the day, they're old tracks dredged up from the past; and the unfamiliar names are made-up names for groups that never existed. This latter group consists of a bunch of staff writers and musicians who included Lou Reed (pre-VELVET UNDERGROUND) and some of his Syracuse friends. Lou played on some, co-wrote some (some people claim he co-wrote all of the oddball tracks herein). The most famous and recognizable one is Cycle Annie by "the Beachnuts" which features a VERY recognizable Lou lead vocal, probably lead guitar, and some obvious Lou lyrics. It's a song about a tough biker chick, sort of in the hotrod genre, but twisted. It has a folk/rock-to-garage vibe that is a direct link to rockers like Waiting For My Man.

Still Sealed- FACTORY sealed.  Cover is NM, with exceptionally sharp and crisp corners & edges. Shrink is perfectly clean and Brand New-looking but is partially (actually more than half-) separated on the opening end. This is because this budget company didn't use inner sleeves which allowed the disc to move around inside the cover, poking through the shrink there. I've placed it inside a plastic outer sleeve and taped it tightly shut so it won't open any further; when you receive it, it will still be obviously SEALED and perfect but not perfectly-sealed (!).
FYI, when I found this, it was in the middle of three budget LPs shrinkwrapped together (it was the middle LP - I got lucky!) and each was also separately sealed; a marketing ploy... one of the other ones was the Guess Who's early tracks (Shakin' All Over).
Lou fans, this is the best copy of this LP I've ever seen and the best copy possible. One for the archives...
