Description

Ouba:same (Canada/A-1/1968)
Ultra ultra rare freeform freakout LP; supposedly only 100 copies pressed.. Related to other such similar Canadian late 60s oddities as labelmates Reel Pyschedeliques and L'Experience 9, possibly the same musicians. The LP is one 2-side long jam which veers into pseudo-jazz sounds as well as a progressive psychedelia.
There is a great deal of vocalizing throughout the jamming by from 1 to 3 voices. Mostly, they are doing stoned scat singing, obsessing on such phrases as the band name (which is an acronym for over under below above), chanting throughout "ouba, ouba, ouba-bop-bop". On side 1, they also get into singing "hey mama whatcha doin'" for a while, and on side 2, there is a "bang bang" passage.
The first 5 minutes of Side 2 are devoted to a drum solo, which is played rather broadly (rather than just banging away at maximum speed) and produces a lot of distinctive drum beats, which could be a breakbeat samplers' delight.
The cover is VG (good amount of wear on front cover plus a tear near the bottom-see scans; very minor amount of seamwear; couple of small ink writings on back cover). Side 1 looks VG, plays VG- (moderate amount of scuff lines, some heavier but none that break the surface of the vinyl; couple of imperfections in the vinyl; plays with intermittent but noticeable crackling throughout, a few light pops & clicks). Side 2 looks VG+, plays VG (moderate amount of light scuff marks, less so than side 1; plays with much less frequent crackling than side 1). There is a mild warp which may contribute to the crackling heard throughout the record.
Shipping will be quoted with my post-auction message.
