New LP

"In Poland, a myth was created about musicals belonging to the commercialised culture of the West. Although the extensive state patronage did not take into account the money, no original musical production was created in the country. A substitute for commercial theatre were to be propaganda parades, May First festivals, less often - broadcasts from Berlin's Friedrich Staadt Palace. Art education educated artists for the "great repertoire", theatres - one hundred percent subsidized by the state - pursued their artistic ambitions regardless of audience expectations. If the audience glowed empty - spectators were brought from nearby factories or military units. It was so simple! And we dreamed of a musical. 

We - accustomed to blandness, to the equation in line, to the bureaucracy that murdered banal things with kilometers of gray corridors - wanted a musical! 

And the manufacturer - Wiktor Kubiak - appeared. And he said:
"If there are no performers - then you need to find and educate them
If there are no schools - then they need to be organized
If there is no tradition then it must be created"

But in addition to money, dreams are still needed" (Janusz Józefowicz)
On 30 January 1991, the premiere of the musical Metro took place at the Warsaw Dramatic Theatre. By the end of August 2023, more than 2,500 musical performances had been exhibited.
