-OSCAR ALEMAN, great Argentinean guitarist. In South America and particularly in Argentina he was a legend, but in the rest of the world he was never noticed by the general public. After 1940 he seldom performed outside South America. During the last ten years of his live he appeared in many radio - and TV shows in Argentina. Oscar Aleman started his musical career with Gastón Bueno Lobo in the Latin-pop duo "Los Lobos" (Les Loups). The duo was signed to the prestigious Argentine Victor label and performed under the name Los Lobos. On occasion, they would add violinist ElvinoVardaro and recorded under the name Trio Victor.

He came to Europe with Harry Flemming's group and became a member of the Baker Boys, the stage band of Josephine Baker in Paris. In Paris he led the band in the "Le Chantilly"club and jammed with famous musicians like Django Reinhardt. In Europe he made records with Freddy Taylor, Eddie Brunner, Danny Polo, Svend Asmussen and Bill Coleman (to name a few). His performance during the 1939 "7 de Jazzwereld Feest" in the Netherlands was the most happiest moment in his live, he later declared. When the nazis occupied large parts of Europe Oscar returned to Argentina and founded his "Quinteto de Swing" and later his "Orquesta de Jazz". They made a lot of recordings for Odeon, most unknown outside South America. During the first half of the 1960s he lived retired from the active music scene until he was re-discovered during the last fifteen years of his live.
