This is the real thing: Swaddling Songs by Mellow Candle - the original album from 1972 on the Deram label.
I bought this LP new and in recent years it has been sitting unplayed on a shelf in my den – mercifully in good storage conditions.
This is one of the most sought after albums – a highly collectible folk rock psychedelic work which was only really appreciated some years after its release.
It has not been played very often and only on good equipment. I have taken it to a specialist who pronounced the condition good to very good. He also informed me that the current price for a perfect copy (listed in Record Collector) is £850. On popsike.com there are reports of this album selling on eBay for 2850USD and 2650USD.

All the pictures on this listing are of the actual album for sale. There are three obvious camera shots and the rest were obtained by putting the LP and cover on a flat bed scanner. Even the record sleeve is the original.
The fold out cover shows some signs of age discolouration, as you would expect on an album of this age which is mostly white. There is a faint circular mark on the black part of the cover, the legacy of a sticky label. The record itself would probably benefit from a clean but I decided to leave this to someone more expert than me. There are a few very light scratches of type you expect from the LP going in and out of the sleeve. I took it to a friend who can still play vinyl and it played fine.
The album features the impressive vocals of Alison Williams and Clodagh Simonds and some fine work by bassist Frank Boylan, drummer William Murray and guitarist Dave Williams. It made me wonder why I hadn’t played it more over the years.
Postage is £7.40 for UK, £19.45 for USA and £12.99 for the Republic of Ireland. This is for a package with a lot of protective material, signed for delivery and an appropriate amount of insurance.
