Description

Ray did four sessions at Sun Records early 1958 from which this his first release on the label was taken . Charlie Rich penned both sides & saw ‘ So Young ‘ as the hit . Hiding on the other side was a classic which although covered in Britain at the time by Vince Eager [ equally unsuccessful chart wise ] never fully received the recognition it deserved until a new generation of rockabilly fans surfaced in the late 1990’s . By then it was far too late for Ray Smith to collect his dues . A couple of other releases on Sun followed . A little success on this label & then that . By the 1970’s he was working where he could until on the 29th November 1979 he shot himself . This copy ticks all the genuine first pressing boxes . Dead wax shows 45-U-310 on the ‘ So Young ‘ run off & 45-U-311 on ‘ Right Behind You Baby ‘ . No reserve so the best bidder adds a genuine one off to their collection .
